CAN YOU OVERDOSE ON SUPPLEMENTS?

The simple answer is yes, you can.

Taking a fat-soluble vitamin supplement with a  multivitamin can make you sick. Unlike water-soluble vitamins, fat soluble vitamins accumulate in your liver and fatty tissues.

This means that if you continue to ingest high amounts of these vitamins, they will build up in your system. Too much of these fat soluble vitamins can cause overcalcification of bones, hip fractures, dizziness, headaches, nausea, hair loss, liver issues, and birth defects.

It's also possible to overdose on minerals, such as selenium and iron. If you take more than the safe upper limits for water-soluble vitamins, you may experience problems such as nausea, vomiting, headache, and fatigue.

The main takeaway is this: Stick to one thing. If you choose to take a multi-vitamin, don't take additional supplements concurrently. Too much of a good thing isn't necessarily good, especially with dietary supplements.
